Gay Man Apologizes to Amy Koch
Writing on behalf of the entire gay and lesbian community of Minnesota, a gay writer has apologized to state Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch (R) for causing her to stray from her husband with a staffer, an affair that caused her to resign her leadership position. "On behalf of all gays and lesbians living in Minnesota, I would like to wholeheartedly apologize for our community's successful efforts to threaten your traditional marriage," John Medeiros writes. "We apologize that our selfish requests to marry those we love has cheapened and degraded traditional marriage so much that we caused you to stray from your own holy union for something more cheap and tawdry."

The Christian population in Iraq is one of the most at risk. Around half of Iraqi Christians have fled the country since 2003, and those who remain expect growing challenges, given the U.S. military pullout. Christians have suffered periodic waves of violence, including bombings, assassinations and church burnings.

"I think it's important for people to take care of their families first, and preclude people from public office if they fail to take care of their primary obligations," Franks said.
