Fred Phelps swears God hates America, fags (and most things other than the Phelps family)

I have read passing references to Fred Phelps and his Westboro Baptist Church for some time, but never bothered to follow up on what he and his church are about.

If you think the most extreme Imams have no American counterparts, you've never been properly introduced to Phelps.  If you believe the widely held idea that Christianity is inherently kinder, gentler, and more "advanced" than Islam, you've never met Phelps.

Here's Phelps.

"God hates fags and God hates America and God is blowing these soldiers to smithereens by Iraqi IEDs and sending them home in pieces in body bags" says the gentle Christian Minister who runs two web sites called:

1. God hates America
   
2. God hates fags

That gentle Christian (Baptist) Minister is Fred Phelps, from Topeka Kansas's Westboro Baptist Church. (Lest I tar the innocent, note that "Although its members identify themselves as Baptists, the church is not affiliated with any known Baptist conventions or associations" according to Wikipedia). He organizes street demonstrations near military funerals for American soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, where he and his supporters (including children) carry signs saying such wonderful things as "Fags Die; God Laughs" and "Thank God for AIDS." His church has put out a  flyer which said "Praise the Lord for 2,010 Dead Soldiers in Iraq."

He and his church appeared at the site of the World Trade Center remains shortly after the towers came down, demonstrating to leave the bodies where they were, and mocking rescue workers for acting contrary to God's wishes.

They appear to find all religions, including Catholicism, Judaism, most Protestantism, and certainly all of Islam, to be against the word of God, and preach that adherents to these religions are damned.

Coretta Scott-King is in HELL!!!!

WBC has been telling Coretta Scott-King for over 10 years now that by carrying water for the fag agenda as though it were the righteous cause Martin Luther King, Jr. championed, she would bring down the wrath of God upon herself, her family, and the entirety of the black civil rights movement. "God is not mocked" (Galatians 6:7), America! Just because you fall down and worship at this whorish woman's funeral and grave, doesn't make her holy!!

Coretta didn't just let the fags detour the Freedom Train through Sodom. She stopped, kicked the righteous black civil rights leaders off the train, drove it out to San Francisco to pick up every filthy flame queen she could find, and then demanded that everyone bow down at the fag altar and treat fags as though they have been mistreated the way blacks have been. Get a clue! Fags choose to eat each other's feces and drink each other's semen. Black people don't choose to be black! Jesus said that if your right eye offends you, pluck it out (Matthew 5:29)! That means if you can't stop being a fag, castrate yourself! He doesn't call being black a sin!!!

Phelps has plenty of Muslim counterparts, of course.  For example, Abdullah al-Faisal, a Muslim cleric convicted in England of inciting murder and racial hatred in 2003, reportedly "has branded non-Muslims as "cockroaches" ripe for extermination."

Phelps and the crazed Imams hate each other, but they share a soaring, divine hatred of all things American, all things open and tolerant, all things secular.  My fear, which grows every day, is that they will manage to combine to destroy us before they manage to destroy each other.

From this vantage point, God as currently envisioned is most assuredly not the answer.  And it looks ever more like human beings still cannot be trusted with the very concept of an all-powerful divinity who for some reason has written down very detailed and comprehensive rules for how to think, act, speak, and have sex, and is just waiting to punish those who deviate from THE WORD.
