A group called Priests for Life has announced a "Prayer campaign" in advance of the 2006 elections:

Priests for Life announced over the weekend that it is leading an 18-week prayer campaign to prepare the nation for the 2006 elections.

To accompany the campaign, Priests for Life is also publishing a booklet called "Ten Easy Steps to Voting with a Clear Conscience."

"This is a double-novena, a pair of nine-week periods of prayer, starting on Tuesday the Fourth of July, and concluding on Tuesday, November 7, which is Election Day," said Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life.

Priest for Life was recently recognized as one of the top 20 Christian political organizations, and is the largest US Catholic pro-life organization dedicated to ending abortion and euthanasia.

"The intentions of the campaign are that citizens take an active role in the elections and understand that the most important issue is abortion," Fr. Pavone said.

A special website
has been set up for the prayer campaign.  People are invited to say each day a prayer specially composed for the campaign. The prayer can be found on the website, and visitors can indicate online their intention to participate.

Well it goes without saying that:

  1. These folks (under the leadership of Father Frank Pavone) aren't likely to be advocating for the Democrats.

  2. They'll probably finagle their efforts so that they can say, disingenuously but with a straight face, that they aren't violating their tax-exempt status requirements.

  3.  If they get all their followers to use Prayer Power® audio technology, the Democrats may be in big trouble.  Guaranteed!
