President proclaims character week

Another one of those vacuous Presidential Proclamations slipped by me last week.  Now we have an official week for "National Character Counts."

And in proclaiming October 15 through October 21, 2006, as "National Character Counts Week," our feckless leader said:

By demonstrating values such as integrity, courage, honesty, and patriotism, all Americans can help our children develop strength and character.

Hmmmm.  Since the feckless one and his circle of #%)&I^&#)(  don't demonstrate any of the enumerated values, I guess he's saying that he personally is not taking part in helping our children develop strength and character.

And I know it's a small point, but don't you think what they were pretending to support here was strength of character, not strength and character?
