For someone with her education and background, Condoleezza Rice has always seemed a bit "off" to me--as though she has a whole world inside her head which has nothing at all to do with the world outside of her head.

Everybody who doesn't have one of those little mind control devices makes fun of Fox News, and, IMHO, rightly so. But what is it like to be a journalist forced to deal with this devil child of good old Rupert Grrdock? Or to be a serious thinking person who suddenly gorges herself on Tripe Central?

Needless to say, there's a bit to talk about with this item, the passing of former Senator Jesse Helms, who died 7-4-08. Even more so, how many have already written history....

...or so they think....

Frankly, I think we're running out of time to turn this country around before we're too far gone. And I definitely think that John McCain is not the man to turn it around. What I'm beginning to wonder is whether Barak Obama is the man to turn it around. Or if we have anyone currently in politics who can turn it around.

And there are times I just enjoy bursting someone's bubble. I get a royal kick of it. Once again, I play iconoclast, and extend the WTW pin to prick yet another neocon fantasy...

There's nothing like the concurrence of a serious economic problem, like the cost of oil and gas, with the pandering and pretzelling of logic that is a presidential election. Claims, counterclaims, distortions, outright lies, and the ever popular partial truths all flying around in print, on the air, and in the massive confusion of voters minds. So is there really anything to the "new" John McCain/George Bush plan to reopen leasing of the outer continental shelf (OCS) and encourage the building of new refineries?

Late Thursday night, AP issued the following statement after a day-long discussion of the DMCA takedowns issued to the Drudge Retort that reached all the way up to the company's top management.

Two stories come to my attention: One can't seem to go away soon enough, the other, well, they state what we've known for some time, and for an odd reason, these two seem to compliment the other...

...in that Twilight Zone kind of way, yes....

The Associated Press claims that Drudge Retort users linking to its stories are violating its copyright and committing "'hot news' misappropriation under New York state law." An AP attorney filed six Digital Millenium Copyright Act takedown requests this week demanding the removal of blog entries and another for a user comment.
