Revisionism is nothing more than a childish attempt to pound reality into a shape which will fit nicely into the form of your existing ideas. Its certain consequence--deliberate in many instances--is to distort the past so that sensible actions appear to be mistakes, and mistakes appear to have been sensible actions. If you want to repeat the mistakes of history, just let the revisionists have at it.

Among the many endearing aspects of zealous Christians is
the tendency to be, let's say disingenuous, as the least
offensive of the possible descriptions. When called on the
fact that "Intelligent Design" (ID) theory is little more
than creationism once removed, some ID proponents point out
that, hey, they aren't saying who the intelligent
designer is...could be aliens.

It was bound to happen, and maybe this is some good news for a change, and amazing, yes, that the MSM chose to ignore this story, to which I was tipped off to: China's new contract law for workers is already kicking the shins out of foreign companies...now, where do they go for the cheapy labor, mmmm?

San Diego, the city which was literally run aground by its Republican Mayor and several other officials who underfunded the city's pensions and kind of forgot to be honest about it when reporting the financial details to the public, rating agencies, etc. San Diego, central to the Southern California fiefdoms of corrupt Republican legislators like Duke Cunningham, Jerry Lewis, and a cast of...others. San Diego, city who's Republican Party, according to Raw Story, made a software pirate its Chairman.

Yet more evidence that you really can't spell hypocrisy without GOP: turns out that Linda Daves--the NC GOP Chair associated with the ad attacking two Democratic candidates for NC state office based on their association with Obama, who, of course, is associated with Reverend Wright--is a member of a church which recently defunded some local charities because they had the audacity to work with Catholics.

Consider this a rant, and a news piece at the same time. Part of what we love to do here at WTW is to expose the MSM, and yes, expose others in the process. I ask a question I asked all the way back to 1963...

In an era when every subject and every institution has been corrupted by partisanship, newspeak and general sleaze, one of the most egregious examples is the designation "nonpartisan" for some nonprofit. The first thing that any self-respecting partisan wants, of course, is to be seen as nonpartisan, so very, very few of the current bumper crop of "nonpartisan" nonprofits actually is.

John McCain rather famously said once that "The issue of economics is not something I've understood as well as I should. I've got Greenspan's book." -12/18/07. McCain tried denying that he said that, and similar things, over the years, but the record of his statements is hard to overcome. So McCain seems to have resigned himself to acknowledging the quotes but quibbling about what they really indicate about his knowledge.

What do you need in a country where the law is almost nonexistent, horrific car bombs explode on a daily basis, and buying a loaf of bread can be the last act you ever try to perform? A good, solid seat belt law, of course.

Since his arrival in the U.S., the Pope has broached the subject of sexual abuse by Catholic clergy in several contexts. He's admitted his "shame" for the perpetrators of the abuse. He's acknowledged that the scandal was, in some instances, "badly handled." But he just can't seem to publicly acknowledge the role that Church as a whole, and this Pope in particular, played in the concealment and continuation of that widespread sexual abuse.
