Some stammering, stuttering performances are worth a calling to mind again after they fade from memory.  Witness this excerpt from the March 14, 2004 Face the Nation appearance by the one and only Donald Rumsfeld.

Pat Buchanan can say some of the dumbest things in the world, followed in short order by something very articulate and insightful.  I used to think that which Pat you got depended on whether he was thinking with his brain or his bible.  But this food Pat-bad Pat example doesn't seem to have anything to do with the bible.

I'm not a big fan of proselytizing evangelicals who think God is a corporeal presence hiding just out of sight and ready to swing his Godly sword down on the heads of all who do not believe as the evangelicals believe.  In fact, evangelical Christians of that stripe seem to me more representative of evil than divine good.  And every day they do something else to reinforce that opinion.

Major fears about the virtually autonomous Kurdish region in Iraq have been:

Kurdish rebels from Turkey and/or Iran will use it as a safe haven in their war with Turkey and Iran

It will eventually secede from Iraq and form a truly independent Kurdistan, which will encourage Kurdish areas in Turkey and Iran to attempt to join Kurdistan

Well, it looks like number 1 is already happening.

The issue of illegal immigration (how big a problem, how to stop it in the future, what to do about the illegals here now) deserves some serious discussion.  It impacts everything from the American wage structure to the prices of many goods to the conscience and morals of the country.

What the issue doesn't need?  Nonsense like this from the Associated Press.

If one is to listen to the likes of El Oxycondo, and the rest of the neofascists, the answer to our prayers is to start drilling in Alaska...

So Fox's Snow is now America's Snow, with the White House's unwavering one having named the Foxy one the new Press Secretary.  The best the news headlines seem to be able to do is "Snow has been critical of Bush."

If only that was the major point...or even a medium point.

Or should perhaps this piece be really titled Okay, idiot, one more time, this is why oil costs so damned much.....
