Alito Will "Keep in Mind" the "Trust" that Has Been "Placed in Him"

Raw story this morning offers up the text of the brief thank you note that Alito sent to Ralph Dobson.

He also wants Dobson to "pass along" the appreciation to "the good people from all parts of the country who wrote to tell me they were praying for me and for my family during this period."

But the part that matters is the single short sentence: "As long as I serve on the Supreme Court, I will keep in mind the trust that has been placed in me."

Boy does that need to be parsed.

"keep in mind"??? How? Exactly how grateful are you Sam?

"The trust"??? Exactly what trust is that, Sam?  Trust as in we think you'll do your job?  Or trust as in you've taken on a sacred trust to accomplish some holy mission?

"that has been placed in me"??? By whom, Sam?  By the Republicans?  By the religious right segment of the Republicans?  By the constitution?

Is there a school where they teach these people to talk in this code that's specific enough for the constituents to clearly get the message, but just ambiguous enough to provide instant deniability?
