One result of the Iraq invasion has been to enable the Iraqis to move closer to Iran. With Shiites now the majority political force, and so much of Iraq's resources unusable or undeliverable due to the war, insurgency, counterinsurgency, etc., Iran may become a natural partner for Iraq.
Witness the following from Iran's FARS news service (but keep the real possibility of self-serving platitudes firmly in mind).
Iraqi Education Minister: [Iraq in Need of Iran's All-Out AidsTEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iraqi Education Minister said in Mashhad on Friday that his country is in need of Iran's help and support in all areas.
Speaking in a meeting with the governor-general of Khorasan Razavi Province, Khudayr al-Khuzai pointed to technical, industrial and technological fields as the most needed areas of help and further ruled out allegations about Iran's intervention in Iraq's domestic affairs.
He also stressed that it would be a pleasure for his country to enjoy Iran's aids and assistance.
Meantime, the Iraqi official assured that his country may never become a channel of atrocities towards Iran.
