Coulter defender gets it part right

The Editor & Publisher site has several letters defending Ann Coulter's latest loony comments and attempt at Coulter-humor.

One is from a gent in (where else?) Florida:

Ann Coulter writes and speaks in truthful way that I can understand. I am just an average American who loves his country and dislikes what the intellectual establishment does to us. As for your magazine, the information published therein is so far removed from normal everyday life in America as to make it a waste of paper.

Now she obviously speaks in a way this gentleman can understand; that's the whole point of her shtick.  Whether I'd be proud of that.....

And God knows she never did, does not, and never will "speak in a truthful way."  Unless we've descended far enough that "truthful" is now a synonym for "vicious" or "bitterly partisan" or "loony."

As for E&P being "so far removed from normal everyday life in America as to make it a waste of paper"---is that supposed to imply that Coulter, with her upper class background, addiction to the metropolitan good life while savaging "the elites," and millions of dollars is in touch with real American life?

(And, by the way, exactly why should a magazine that focuses on the publishing business reflect "everyday life?"  Shouldn't it reflect life in the publishing world?)
