Santorum's Director of Communications is Gay

From the best Gay News Source on the planet, PageOneQ, we learn that Senator Rick Santorum's Director of Communications, Robert Traynham, is gay.

How does a gay man work for the most anti-gay Senator in the United States, a staunch opponent of gay rights issues and a strong supporter of the Federal Marriage Amendment, which seeks to define marriage as only between a man and a woman?

In Mr. Traynham's own words:

"Senator Santorum is a man of principle, he is a man who sticks up for what he believes in, I strongly do support Senator Santorum."

According to Mike Rogers, an attempt to follow up with another question caused Traynham to hang up the phone.

So why? I mean come on, why? How the hell do you support someone who thinks you are less of a person than he or any other straight person is? How do you support a man who thinks you're going to his mythical "hell" for the way you live your life?

This reminds me of that episode of Chappelle's Show on Comedy Central, when he played a black man who was in the KKK, but was blind. He hated blacks, and no one told him he was black.

It was funny on the show. It's not so funny when it comes to the administration.

Look, here's the thing: The guy has to support himself, and he's got a good job. He's the Communications Director for one of the most bigoted pieces of shit on Capitol Hill. He needs to look out for that.

I mean shit, what is pride, honor, or dignity compared to a cushy job on the hill?

So, I guess my question is, what is Robert Traynham's self-respect worth to him? The answer, it seems, is self explanatory.

Not too fucking much.
