What's today's message from the president? Forward!!!

Don't ask why I know this, but the president managed to use the word "forward" a full 15 times in his press conference today. Fifteen times.  Number of times he said "backward": zero.

Bush has long been proud of saying that he doesn't govern by public opinion poll.  Too bad he can't say the same thing about semantic device.

I don't know about you, but I can practically feel the progress, the forward lurch, of our beleaguered nation, as I listen to his rousing words.

And, proving that lightning bolts are never around when you need one, one use of "forward" was when he said--I swear, he really said this--"It's my responsibility to provide the American people with a candid assessment on the way forward."

I guess there's always a first time.

Someone once said, "the only way Bush can look presidential is to look different."  Well, the only way he can sound presidential is if you turn the sound off.
