Election Day off

I won't be posting anything tomorrow--I'll be chauffering voters who need a ride to the polls from 9 am to 7 pm.  If you haven't already, give your party headquarters a call tonight or tomorrow morning and offer your time doing whatever needs to be done.

I wish I had something good to say about the election but I don't.  As far as I'm concerned, the near-disasterous state of the nation after 12 years under the Republicans calls for a far greater revolution at the polls than now seems likely given the recent public opinion results.

Not to mention that I really do not have a great deal of faith in the integrity of the vote.  I started out as someone who thought that view was a bit too paranoid, but I've learned.

So I'm really concerned.  All the confidence at the top of the Republican Party about the Repubs keeping congress worries me.  Mehlman's bright and optimistic forecast today worries me.

Not because I think the public opinion is really shifting drastically to the Republicans in these last few days, but because I fear that Mehlman and friends may know something that the rest of us don't, specifically that enough fraud will occur to keep Republican losses to a minimum.

Vote anyway; it at least makes the slime work to steal your vote, and the more votes they need to steal, the better the chance that something will go wrong and they'll get caught.
