Couple Things

Well, heading off to move my family somewhere out West, to one of those "undisclosed locations" people like to talk about.

I'll be gone for about a week, but you can and should check in with the Diaries Section to see all the great stuff the diarists are writing. You can make submissions as usual if you like, but the community will have to vote them up to the front page.

Wanna see your story up? Go tell your buddies to create an account and vote for your story. Tell everybody. We accept all comers, right, left, and center, into our little community.

One more thing: no more anonymous comments. I'm shutting it off because I like to know who I'm fighting with, even if it's just a bullshit screen name. Ya don't like it, don't post a comment. If you're interested in posting a comment, it takes about fifteen seconds to sign up, and since I run the site out of my own pocket, it's all free vittles.

Other than that, I love you all, and thanks for coming to this site and supporting me by reading what I have to say, and what our brilliant diarists have to say. Sign up and become a diarist yourself, it's actually quite liberating, to be able to post your thoughts for the whole world to see.

Peace, love, and electoral college,

Insane in the Hussein

Have you ever thought of something really clever, only to google it and find out you've been scooped? The title of this post, which has little to do with the rest of this snarkiness, is one of those instances. Check it. Those damn fantasy footballers.

What Goes On While We Are "Terror"-ized

Terrorism is a serious problem for the United States and many other countries. No one wants to turn attention away from it, and the public fear level is too high to turn away from it if you wanted to.  Yet while our full attention is turned to that problem, or at least to what we perceive as being that problem, several parallel phenomena are occurring that pose dangers just as great as those posed by terrorism.

US and Venezuela in "Electronic War"

And why doesn't the MSM cover stuff like this?

Just Catapulting the Propaganda, People!

via CNN

The U.S. military on Sunday said it was looking into how virtually identical quotations ended up in two of its news releases about different insurgent attacks.

Hmm, how did that happen, anyway?

Taxes in America

Lots of Americans these days consider taxes to be a form of theft by the government.

"Socialism" versus "balance"

Some libertarians and people on the left of our narrow spectrum argue about whether socialism is an economic system or a form of government.

Grand Theft Auto: Reason is the Casualty

Up in arms is the best way to describe American media and lawmakers over Rockstar Game's Newest title, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

As we all by now know, a MOD (modification, typicall a patch or add-on to a game that changes the behavior or adds/unlocks content) was created for GTA:SA that unlocks a sex scene between characters in the game.

But why is this worse than the game itself?

Where the hell were we?

One year and some months ago, we went through the Abu Ghraib scandal. We saw pictures of people abused by a few soldiers, and then it was assumed they were acting alone, yadda yadda yadda, not involvement from the higher ups.

So how did we miss this? Where are you, MSM, when we need you?

In Defense of

First and foremost, hat tip to The Common Ills, whose committee approved and posted WTW in their permalinks.

It is actually through The Common Ills that this topic sprang to mind for me. Seems there has been some issue with the "A-List" Bloggers and newbies in the blogosphere of late, and I think I'd like to adress the issue.
